According to the Bureau of Labour Statistics (BLS), employment in the healthcare industry is expected to grow from 14% from 2018 to 2028, adding almost 1.9 million new jobs. Aging population is the reason behind the growth of healthcare industry as this population demands greater healthcare services.
We have used the rankings established from salary data collected from the Bureau of Labour Statistics (BLS). Occupational Information Network (O*NET) was developed under the sponsorship of the U.S. Department of Labour/Employment and Training Administration (USDOL/ETA) and was used to take extra information.
We have excluded few overlapping job categories for better clarity and convenience. The figures and statistics are from the data gathered through May 2018. Based on this data, we have made the list of Highest-Paid Occupations. For every profession, we are mentioning BLS’ 2019 report’s mean annual wage along with 2018 report’s mean annual wage mentioned in parenthesis. This can help you compare how salaries have changed.

Anaesthesiologists are physicians who administer anesthetics prior to, during, or after surgery, or other medical procedures, according to the BLS’ definition. Last year, as well, they ranked first in the list.
According to the BLS’ data, there are approximately 31,000 anaesthesiologists in the United States.
After completing four years of medical school, ambitious anaesthesiologists in the country generally go for specialization with four-year residency. The duration could even increase based on the sub-specialty chosen.
Surgeons are physicians who treat diseases, injuries, and deformities by invasive, minimally-invasive, or non-invasive surgical methods, such as using instruments, appliances, or by manual manipulation, according to the BLS’ definition.
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons:
More specialized than dentists, oral surgeons perform complicated medical procedures such as wisdom tooth extraction. Maxillofacial surgeons perform procedures which are related to the jaw and face around the jaw.

Doctors with specialization in female reproductive health and childbirth are known as obstetrician-gynecologist (OB/GYN). They also diagnose, treat, and help prevent diseases of women, particularly those affecting the reproductive system, according to the BLS’ definition. Their annual salary listed on the BLS is slightly lower than oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
According to the BLS’ data, there are approximately 18,590 OB/GYN in the United States.
They specialize in braces and other corrective procedures for the teeth. They examine, diagnose, and treat dental malocclusions and oral cavity anomalies. In corrective procedures, they design and fabricate appliances to realign teeth and jaws to produce and maintain normal function and to improve appearance, according to the BLS’ definition.
According to the BLS’ data, there are approximately 5,380 orthodontists in the United States.

According to the BLS, they determine and formulate policies and provide overall direction of companies or private and public sector organizations within guidelines set up by a board of directors or similar governing body. They also plan, direct, or coordinate operational activities at the highest level of management with the help of subordinate executives and staff managers.
South Dakota ranks first, the District of Columbia ranks second, and Rhode Island third in the highest CEO salaries.
There are almost 195,530 CEOs in the country.
They treat children and their common illnesses. They in general earn less than general practitioners and internists but still hold a position in the Highest-Paid Occupations.
According to the BLS, dentists diagnose and treat problems with patients’ teeth, gums, and related parts of the mouth. Their growth is projected at 7 percent from 2018 to 2028.

California, Illinois and New York are the top three states with the Highest-Paid Occupations level in this field.
